Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using the Project Based Learning method assisted by Quizzizz learning media on the ability to write expository texts. The population in this study were class The research sample consisted of 67 students, 34 students for the experimental class and 33 students for the control class which was determined randomly from the amount of data. The instrument used to collect data was the assignment to write expository text. The method used in this research is Two Group Pre-test Post-test Design. From data processing, the results of the control class pre-test and experimental class post-test were obtained. The average value of the control class (Pre-test) = 60.75, standard deviation = 13.03, and included in the good category as many as 11 students or 33.33%, in the fair category as many as 15 students or 45.45%, category 5 students or 15.15% were lacking, and the very poor category was 2 students or 6.06%. Meanwhile, the average score of the experimental class (Post-test) = 81.32, standard deviation = 9.22, and included in the very good category as many as 21 students or 61.76%, in the good category as many as 8 students or 23.52%, the sufficient category was 5 students or 14.70%. From the test results, the data is known to be normally distributed. From the homogeneity test, it was found that this research sample came from a homogeneous population. After testing normality and homogeneity, t0 was obtained at 7.34, then consulted the t table at the level α = 0.05, dk = (N1+N2)-2= (34+33)-2=65. In the t table with a level of dk = 65, a significant level of α = 0.05 = 1.668 is obtained because the t0 obtained is greater than t table, namely 7.46 > 1.668, so the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. From the results of hypothesis testing, evidence was obtained that the ability to write expository text after using the Project Based Learning method assisted by Quizizz learning media was better than before using the Project Based Learning method assisted by Quizzizz learning media by class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Laguboti for the 2022/2023 academic year.
