Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Mind Mapping learning method on speech writing skills in class IX students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara for the 2020/2021 academic year. The population in this study amounted to 84 people consisting of 3 classes, namely IX-A, IX-B and IX-C. The sample in this study was class IX-C totaling 30 people who were taken by a simple random sampling process. The research method used in this research is the experimental method. Hypothesis testing is done by using the "t" test. From data processing, the mean value of Pre-test = 58.16, standard deviation = 7.98, standard error = 1.48. In the post-test, the average value = 76.16, standard deviation = 6.91, standard error = 1.28. Based on the normality test, the results of the pre-test and post-test were normally distributed. The value of F is obtained from the table with a level of significance = 0.05 or F_0 (n1 – 1n2 - 1) F_count < F_table or 1.33 < 4.17 so it can be concluded that the sample comes from a homogeneous population. The results of the calculation of the "t" test obtained the value of t_0 = 9.23. After t_0 is known, then this value will be consulted with table 1 at a significant level of 5% of 2.05. Based on the calculations that have been done, it can be seen that t_0 > t_table , which is 9.23 > 2.05. Thus H_0 (nil hypothesis) is rejected and H_a (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. This proves that the Mind Mapping learning method has an effect on the ability to write speech texts by class IX students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara for the 2020/2021 Academic Year.
