Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Mind Mapping learning method on the skills of writing fantasy stories in seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Paranginan for the 2020/2021 academic year. The population in this study amounted to 180 people consisting of 6 classes namely VII-A, VII-B, VII-C, and VII-D, VII-E, VII-F. The sample in this study was class VII-D totaling 28 people who were taken by a simple random sampling process. The research method used in this research is the experimental method. Hypothesis testing is done by using the "t" test. From the data processing, the mean value of Pre-test = 58.92, standard deviation = 8.79, standard error = 1.69. In the post-test, the average value = 77.67, standard deviation = 7.61, standard error = 1.46. Based on the normality test, the results of the pre-test and post-test were normally distributed. The value of F is obtained from the table with a level of significance = 0.05 or F_0 (n1 – 1n2 - 1) F_count < F_table or 1.33 < 4.20 so it can be concluded that the sample comes from a homogeneous population. The results of the calculation of the "t" test obtained the value of t_0 = 8.40. After t0 is known, then this value will be consulted with table 1 at a significant level of 5% of 2.05. Based on the calculations that have been done, it can be seen that t0 > ttable, which is 8.40 > 2.05. Thus H0 (nil hypothesis) is rejected and Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted. This proves that the Mind Mapping learning method has an effect on the ability to write fantasy stories by class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Paranginan for the 2020/2021 Academic Year.
